                   A brief introduction to infrared

Infrared photography is a look into the invisible world.!

The human eye can see wavelengths from about 400 nm to 700 nm (nanometers).  "Near" infrared light exists in wavelengths from 700 - 900 nm spectrum range, revealing unique and often ethereal details invisible to the naked eye. These effects produce surreal color landscapes and high-contrast black and white photographs.

To shoot IR photography, a normal camera needs conversion to be fully sensitive to infrared. (IR filters can be used without conversion, but this requires long exposures with a tripod.)

I have a converted Nikon body, along with IR filters that allow me  to capture images in both the 470nm & 590nm color spectrum, (each produces different color results) along with an 830nm filter for capturing IR black & white infrared.
